Oh, send out the raven ahead of the dove…

Oh send out the raven ahead of the dove, Oh, sing from chains where you’re chained in a cave. Your eyes through my eyes shine brighter than love; Your blood in my ballad collapses the grave. Oh, break from your branches; the green branch of love, After the raven has died for the dove. ~ Leonard Cohen

I took a personal day and spent it taking photos. I bought new lighting. I have been working with that. I still have lots to learn… fortunately for me I can adjust tones, contrast and exposure in my Iphoto program. I’m happy with my work today. I haven’t engaged my artistic mind in a while so it’s nice that the photos turned out okay.

I will write more in the future.

Love and gratitude,

Lisa

    Okay?,,,, These are just “Okay”?….

No, no, these are GORGEOUS, And dare I say there’s a hint of a smile there, meaning you actually had a bit of fun in the process?

That’s gotta be a good thing, right? So very glad to see you enjoying yourself. Because although there has been some heavy stuff happening lately for you, surely you’re allowed to show it when the other side of the coin is facing up? It’s called balance, and I think we all need to show more of it.

You took the day to do this because you WANTED to take more photos…It was for you, nobody else, and I think the results speak for themselves in the effort you put into a costume and makeup. And as an aside, those of us looking through the window get to enjoy those same results. Look at these photos regularly, Lisa, and know that what you do is appreciated by “us”, but know that you took some time for YOU, and that it’s OK to put yourself first from time to time.

Loving what you do, Lisa, and hoping there’s more like this to come.

    • Hi David… I have spent some time thinking about your comment. You are very perceptive. Balance is something I need very much in my life. More times than not I spend time trying to dodge certain feelings. That is not balance that is avoidance. I don’t perceive happiness as a balance to other bad stuff perhaps if I did I would be a happier person.

Thanks for your wise words… I needed to read them.

      Love and gratitude,

      Lisa

  2. Sometimes it’s good to let the raven out b4 the dove, bcause sometimes you need to make the skies cleaner so the dove can fly through the sky. And have less stuff on it’s chest that will do it any harm. That way it can shine brighter, fly higher, look better, and leave it’s mark in the sky as the most beautiful bird that the sky has ever seen….and that bird is pretty….pretty as you lisa. And you haven’t even begun to fly high and pretty in the sky like the dove can so get ready luv…ur time 2 shine has just started….well these are some of the best pics of you yet….keep up the good work….take care luv…can wait 4 more :) :)

This has got to be my favourite shoot yet. ;)

  4. simply put….you are amazingingly (I know it isnt a word lol) talented and beautiful! Have you ever thought of photographing others and bringing out there beauty the way you bring out your beauty and inner light? I know if you did I would surely want to be on the list of people you photograph. Take care sweet lady and never stop being you. I have learned so much from you over the past year or so and thank you for being so brave. You are an inspiration to so many! <3

    • Hi Amanda, I love it when people make up words… People (like you) who make up words are the AWeSoMeST. I have thought about photographing others but I still think I have a lot more to learn before that happens. I have only just started to recruit other people to be photographed with me but some people are reluctant to pose nude. Go figure… Lol.
Happy to read that I have inspired you. You are too kind…

      Love and gratitude,

      Lisa

You’re smiling! And despite the “mask”, it’s a whimsical smile. You’ve had some serius trials and tribulations this last year, but these pictures show you having fun (at least to me). I hope in 2012 these days outweighs the others.
